CityLit Press / Poetry Chapbook Contests

01/05/2011

Chapbook contests have a rich tradition in American independent and literary publishing houses.  CityLit Press sponsors two contests: the Harriss Poetry Prize named in honor of Clarinda Harriss, widely acclaimed poet, long-time English professor, and publisher of Maryland’s oldest continuously running small press (deadline every October 1); and Black Infinity: The Adele V. Holden Prize for New African-American Poets, named in an honor of Adele Holden, born on Maryland’s segregated Eastern Shore, educated at Johns Hopkins under Elliott Coleman, and devoted English teacher (deadline every February 1).
