Artificial intelligence is already shaping how authors write, research, and refine their work—but many writers are unsure how to use it ethically without losing their voice, creativity, or control. In this 60-minute, author-focused workshop, NIKKI GIVON demystifies ChatGPT and shows writers how to use it as a supportive writing assistant—not a replacement. Authors will learn how to set clear rules of engagement with AI, protect their intellectual property, and apply ChatGPT thoughtfully to strengthen their writing, research, and presentation skills. What AI Really Is (and What It’s Not);  Author AI Writing Rules of Engagement; Practical Writing & Research Support for Authors. This session is practical, non-technical, and designed specifically for authors who want clarity, confidence, and creative authority when using AI. All participants will receive a complimentary digital resource with starter prompts and guidance designed specifically for authors using ChatGPT ethically and effectively. Nikki Givon is an AI Certified Marketing Consultant and Trainer who teaches small business owners, nonprofits, professionals, and authors how to use AI to simplify marketing, create content faster, and build systems that convert connections into leads.

1. Authors will gain a clear, simple understanding of ChatGPT—how it works, where it helps, and where human creativity remains essential—so they can use AI confidently without fear or confusion.

2. Authors will learn how to protect their unique voice, tone, ethics, and creative authority by setting intentional writing rules inside ChatGPT—ensuring AI responds to them rather than rewriting for them. Ethical AI use isn’t about what the tool can do—it’s about the rules the author sets before the tool starts.

3. Authors will see how ChatGPT can assist with: Developing compelling book descriptions and back-cover blurbs. Crafting clear elevator pitches and talking points for events and conversations. Using AI as a research tool for plot development, character depth, genre exploration, and thematic consistency. Formatting proposals and written materials more efficiently without sacrificing originality

Intended Audience: Fiction and nonfiction authors; Emerging and established writers; Authors preparing for events, conversations, or opportunities; Writers curious about AI but unsure how to use it responsibly; Non-technical creatives seeking clarity and control.

Come Prepared: This session is interactive and practical. Live examples and practical explanations. No technical background required. Attendees should be prepared to: Reflect on their writing voice and creative boundaries. Think critically about how they want AI to support (not replace) their work. Engage with new tools in a thoughtful, author-first way. A laptop or iPad (recommended for hands-on learning). A willingness to explore AI with curiosity and intention. Optional: a book idea, draft, or concept they’re currently working on.

Takeaways: A clear framework for ethical, author-led AI use. Greater confidence using ChatGPT without losing creative control. Practical writing and research strategies authors can apply immediately.A better understanding of how to guide AI instead of being guided by it.
